Didi can be rowed, salied or fitted with a 3 h.p. outboard motor. Weighing just 80 pounds the boat can carry quite large loads. construction is very simple and takes about 12 hours in total - not including paint and glue drying.

The boat can be made with simple household tools. Full construction details, well illustrated with list of materials and full step by step instructions for this 7' 6" by 4' boat.

"Didi" can be rowed, sailed or fitted with a 3h.p. outboard motor. Capable of carrying quite large loads, the dinghy is very stable and may be constructed with a flat bottom or with a slight "V" section. Weighing just eighty pounds, the costs vary from £100 with £25 extra for the sailing rig. The construction is very simple and completion takes around twelve hours actual work. This does not include the "drying time" for the glue to set. Built at home in, say, a garage, the tools needed may be found in most households - a small saw (hand or electric), a hammer, a rasp and sandpaper and a small punch. The construction method has' been proven over more than thirty years and is the proven glue and nail system. After cutting out, the panels are fitted with 1" x 1" timber along the edges with light galvanised nails holding the parts together until the glue has set (in about 24 hours). The nails are -4" long and are punched into the ply a little way and the holes filled in before painting. There are several epoxy resin glues available, two popular makes being Eerolite 306 and Cascamite. All will give a remarkably strong bond and are virtually impervious to water.
